I LOVE to fish for bass, I guess that's why I'm on the water about 150-200 days a year.

I've compiled a list of some of my favorite artificial lures, and the way that I fish them.  I've included lures that I have used in the past 11 years also...some of which some they might not make anymore.

Click the lures to go to manufacturers website.
  1. WORMS:
    1. Maverick "Tami's Rock N' Rollers" 10" worms.  Dropshot. (not available in the on-line store yet)
    2. Maverick  "Shakers"  8" worms.  Dropshot
    3. Maverick  "Paddle Tails".  Dropshot
    4. Zoom curly tails.  Shakey Head
    5. Berkley.  (dark, almost deep red) Purple Power worm with a ribbon tail.  (I'm not sure if they make them anymore).  Football head.
    6. Open Water "Huzzie" worms.  Dropshot, and Nail Rig.
  2. GRUBS:
    1. GYM Single Tail Grub...3" & 4".  Dart Head
    2. GYM Double Tail Grub.  Trailer for a jig.
  3. MISC:
    1. Zipper worms.  Dart Head and Shaky Head
    2. Maverick Jigs (not in the on-line store yet)
    3. Open Water Jigs
    4. Swimming Senko and Senkos.  Senko:  Weightless and Nail Rig.  Swim Senko:  Dart Head, Chatterbait, and Drop Shot.
    5. Tubes...I don't have a preference on any specific brand.

    Hey everybody...

You might notice a few changes to my blog recently.  I'm so EXCITED about the new changes!  I've added a few pictures to the side bar and have now added a list of blogs that I follow.

Some of you have mentioned your blog wasn't listed, so I felt it was necessary to explain.  It wasn't intentional and hope that it isn't taken as such.  I am proud to list every blog that I follow.

This past week I've been having HORRIBLE troubles with my computer!  In between that time I was making some changes (when possible) to the site.  Some unfinished tasks in which I just hadn't got around to updating until today...and on a borrowed computer!

As I was learning the blogger blogroll feature, I was trying to list the blogs that:
    • interact and comment on my site first.
    • then I was going to list the other blogs that follow my site
    • remove the blogs that are inactive..(I haven't got around to it yet and may be a few weeks before doing so).
Until that time, I have chosen to go with the "5 most recently updated blogs that I follow".

I enjoy reading your blog posts an leaving comments.  Keep 'm coming!

How do you fish for bass?

There are several ways to fish for bass, many tackle manufacturers to choose from, and literally thousands of baits offered.  There are general rules of thumb and proven dos-and-don'ts, but overall if it works, it must be right.  There are so many factors that play a part in bass fishing that it is impossible to answer this question in one article.  So I'll start with just the very basics:

B = BASS clubs:  Join your local bass club, and ask questions.  Many of these guys are willing to share their knowledge.
A = ASK more questions:  To fish for bass you need to "know" whats happening.  Most of us professional anglers do our "homework",we utilize the internet prior to the tournaments and on a regular basis.  A great place to start is on the #1 site for questions and answers online..... Ask.com.
S = SEEK out bass fishing SHOWS. Pay close attention to what they are doing.   Some good shows to watch are Angler's West,  Hank Parker, and Bill Dance.
S = SEEK out bass fishing websites, blogs, forums, magazines, and newspapers.

F = Use a FRESHWATER bass FISHING pole...I prefer Daiwa due to the extreme sensitivity of feeling in their designs.  Because of the extra sensitivity you can feel what your lure is doing and be able to detect more bites.  This equals more fish, giving you the advantage plus more of a chance to catch a MONSTER BASS!
I = IMITATE the bait:  Tricking the bass into eating is the key.  Try to imitate the food source by looks and movement.  Bass will tend to eat most anything available to them, crayfish, shad, herring, snakes, lizards, frogs, birds, baby ducks, worms, and other fish.  They will even eat their own kind.  Play with the retrieve of your bait, in conjunction with pauses:  burning it, medium retrieve, slow, slow with a pause, etc.
S = SCENT: Use your favorite scent on your artificial lures, to mask human scent and make your lure more desirable.  Some of my favorites are Smelly Jelly and Hot Sauce.
H = HONE your casting skills.  At home practice casting into a bucket.  When mastering this, move to a smaller one, until you are able to cast into a small cup repeatedly.
I = INSPECT the shallows.  Look for rocks, drop offs, brush, and any other structure.  Bass can always be found near or on structure.  They will use this as ambush points for their prey.
N =NEVER give up!  What makes bass so interesting is that they are a constant challenge.  Although there are general patterns that bass follow, they don't always follow the "norm".  It is a puzzle each time, and it is your duty to figure out where to find them and what artificial lure they want.
G = GO fishing with a bass guide and ask a lot of questions, the information you will learn is invaluable.  Practice, practice, practice, and never give up practicing!

(A link to the recent video is at the bottom of this post)

I noticed a handful of new readers this last week!  I'm sooo happy because I have some EXCITING things coming your way...and this time it's all about YOU!  So stay tuned for the future blogs!

Some of the new-comers may not know that I picked up a new hobby recently.....A very cool, and fun.....Bass Fishing  Internet Show!!!  I do majority of the video footage myself, direct it (with help from my mentors Folkestad and Ricci), and I do ALL the editing.  Now that is A LOT of work!!!!....but fun!

Filming is done at most of the tournament "adventures"..and "ADVENTURES" they are!  Mike Folkestad is the host this year, and I can't say we have any actors...because this is the REAL DEAL!  Raw footage, cut and clipped to show the world our adventures!  You will be entertained at times, surprised other times, serious when learning bass fishing pro tips, and more.  This is life as anglers!

Now...this show was probably the most difficult one to produce...trying to keep viewers attention.  First off the weather was horrible:  rainy, dark and dreary most day.s  It just was hard to get any good footage...especially since I only have a $100 camera.  LOL!  Second, I really wanted to show some of the /political/administrative sides to the organizations...that is tough to do and still keep it interesting!

What better organization to show than WON  (Western Outdoor News Publication)!  They have been one of the orgs that helped to "mold" the fishing industry...in fact...they have literally made some of the Elite Anglers FAMOUS with their magazine  and weekly newspapers, giving them a start as pro anglers.
This is a new hobby to me...after watching the show, leave a comment...I really would love to know what you think.

I'm definitely not an internet guru, but I feel like I've picked up little bit of knowledge designing my blogs, and maintaining those sites.
I've had A LOT of inquiries regarding blogging so I've accumulated my answers to the questions I get asked the most regarding websites/blogs:

    Q. "I'm thinking about starting a website...I'm not sure where to turn...can you tell me about yours?"
    A.  I use a service called Blogger.  It is 100% FREE...

This past little bit, I've been discouraged about a few things on my blog.  #1... The comments link wouldn't show up unless you clicked on the title of the post.  People kept asking my why I don't allow comments, it was very frustrating to me!

Well yesterday...I decided to take on the challenge of solving the issue.  Problem solved, after about 2 hours worth of searches and reading, reading, and more reading...I found out the problem, found a link (How Can I do that?  website ) that gave clear directing on fixing it.  I am now pleased to announce...

Comment links are working!  You can comment anonymously or attach a name to it...you don't even have to have a google account or blogger account to leave comments, like some other services might require.

I guess the problem also affected other things too....and I never even knew it.  Well, now all of the sudden I see this feature that I never knew existed...

Ratings!  You can not only comment if you desire, but you can rate the articles too.

I would love to hear your replies/ratings.

    ...and the time goes where?

When I'm not on tour, I'm only home for about 1 week, give or take.  As much time that I spend on the internet when I'm not fishing is a lot!

My time is completely booked!  All of which I totally enjoy...

Tami Curtis ... What's up?  Bass Fishing Blog:  My personal blog is a blog about my life.  Anything goes...well that is, as long as it relates somehow to my life, which happens to be 98% fishing related LOL...hence the blog title..."Bass Fishing Blog".  The other 2% is taking care of taxes, personal relationships, family, friends,  making money, etc.  (I would include sleep, but I dream about fishing too! lol)

TC Sports Report:  A site and internet show that I created to give anglers more exposure to sponsors.  It's difficult to give sponsors exposure while fishing tournaments unless the angler is sponsored by the organization's sponsors.  It's currently in the infancy stage, but growing quickly...I'm still looking for some writers/bloggers for just a few pro sports.

YouTube:  TC Sports Report videos and my personal video channel.  Editing all the videos and doing the post production can take several full days to complete.  It is just WILDLY time consuming...but I love it!

Forums:  To take brief breaks while putting in some LONG HOURS in front of the monitor...I'll stop by a couple forums to chat with tournament buddies, and other fishing friends. Ultimate Bass and Cal Bassin.
These aren't just fishing forums, this is where you will get to hear the "inside scoop of the tournament world (sometimes too much info...lol)", learn tips and techniques, and participate interacting with other anglers and pros. Basically this is were many of us hang out between the tournaments.

But...it doesn't stop there...I love, Love, LOVE...to gather bass fishing info on the net, look at maps, do "bass fishing homework", in addition to take time to watch other people's videos on YouTube, and read other blogs.

WOW what an exciting event!  There is so much to say I could write a novel.  I'll try to keep it short and sweet.  Where do I start?

    • My jersey showed up right before I left for the tourney.
    • They started filming the TV show (Angler West) at the registration and through out the tourney!  Amongst filming many other anglers...there were a few times I caught the camera facing me.  I hope some of the footage is something they can use.
The TV show "Angler West" is on Direct TV, Dish Network, and MANY other TV stations, not just in CA...it even airs on east coast on some areas, and here in Texas!   It goes out to 13 million homes.  They have several episodes different topics of fishing.  The West Coast Bass tourneys is one of them.  Search for the show "Angler West" on the

    I guess it's a fact of life.

In an attempt to lessen the odds (lol) it is important to keep my body in tip-top shape! Plus it's definitely healthy for my cells, metabolism, and my overall health. A proper diet and healthy exercise...plus sit-ups every morning, are a great way help counter the odds.

I just got back from the first FLW tourney at Lake Shasta, CA.  Fishing for spotted bass is definitely not a strength of mine,  but I can tell you this....it certainly created a challenge inside to strive to do better next time at that lake!  Even though, I didn't catch the weight I had hoped for the 2nd day to carry me, overall I learned some very valuable information about spotted bass that can help me in the future.
